Application Server Hosting What To Know While Go For Dedicated Server Hosting

What is Dedicated Server Hosting?

Now a days the world wide web grows like anything and the need of website security, standreds and bandwidth also need to consider while going to start a web based business or a information portal to make things better. How to measure that a hosting package will fit for your corporate website need? There is a solution for corporate websites who think about security and uptime..Dedicated Server.

Dedicated server hosting can alleviate the need to share hardware or software with any other sites or web pages. Webmasters are given the autonomy to decide on applications that are installed on the server to create specific configurations for their web needs, and have the ability to provide a secure environment for their site. As compared to a shared-server environment, dedicated server hosting offers a peace of mind that a site will be delivered in a reliable and secure manner.

There are major benefits of dedicated hosting, as discussed below. However, the major disadvantage, cost, is quickly being overcome. Because of continual growth in the dedicated server hosting industry, the rates for dedicated server plans are rapidly declining. A competitive environment drives up the level of service and decreases cost. This reduction is powered by an increase in small and medium-sized businesses gaining an online presence and the rapid proliferation of web hosting providers.

Advantages:

  • Dedicated hosting is favorable because of 2 major assets: control and reliability.

  • Since a dedicated web administrator has more control over a dedicated server, it tends to be more secure, compared to a shared web server. By knowing what exactly is installed on a dedicated server through full root access, a system administrator is able to confidently make decisions on the software and application updates necessary to maintain the dedicated web server and keep it running in its most optimal configuration.

  • Increased reliability is another major asset of dedicated hosting, as a server administrator has the self-sufficiency to optimize page loads by tweaking variables such as page load speed and general server resource allocation. This server reliability translates to customer satisfaction and an increase in the bottom line goals of a web site's presence.

  • Disadvantages:

  • While the benefits of dedicated hosting is apparent, the bottom line consideration, especially for business purposes is cost. Dedicated hosting is significantly more expensive compared to shared or virtual web hosting, and until recently, could most commonly be quoted at several hundred dollars to several thousand dollars per month. Although cost may still be exorbitant, most businesses are able to justify the use of dedicated servers through a true web analysis to weigh the resources necessary to run applications and code.

  • Another drawback is the need to be able to monitor, install, upgrade and configure programs, add sites, deal with potential hacks, and troubleshoot systems. Therefore, the necessary system administration skills, if one does not possess them, may definitely inhibit the successful implementation of a web site hosted on a dedicated web server.

  • Benefits

The direct benefits of a dedicated server hosting plan surround the ability to totally administer a web server. The advantage to be able to effectively maintain a dedicated server lies in one's ability to control the variables associated with reliability and stability. In a dedicated environment, server overload, malicious scripts from other users, and too many installed applications are variables which can be controlled, as compared to this loss of management in shared server hosting.

  • Furthermore, a dedicated server allows one to only install applications or software that applies to the major hosting goal at hand. Conversely, shared web hosting has installed software that may or may not be related to the web hosting goals.

  • Reliance on the web host repair services and time delays of platform repairs can be minimized, as one may intervene and provide solutions to existing problems with dedicated hosting. Having the option to add patches, upgrade software, or tweak performance is invaluable and allows the dedicated server administrator to work with 24 hour access to perform adjustments, corrections, or updates.

  • Lastly, speed of downloads can be determined through the amount of bandwidth that is dedicated to just your website. Statistically, visitors will quickly leave a site if the load time was long. Dedicated servers allow quick delivery of web pages, which increases the probability of keeping web site visitors on a site that may convert them to paying customers. Furthermore, quick loading pages enhance the company's image and may encourage existing customers to refer your web-based services to others.

  • What is the best application of a dedicated hosting service provider?

Utility of a dedicated server environment is best suited to those with a working knowledge of server operating systems and those who don't mind troubleshooting problems which may arise.

Server administrators must be able to apply kernel upgrades, service packs, and software patches, as well as provide ample security, monitor traffic, update server applications, balance server loads, and configure email, FTP, and DNS services.

In exchange for competency in the above functions, the best uses for a dedicated web server environment would be:

  • mission-critical sites requiring custom server management and software implementation.

  • dedicated hosting resellers, web developers and designers who need greater flexibility, reliability and security for their clients

  • backbones of corporate intranets

  • robust and dependable servers for streaming media, online gaming, and e-mail or chat applications

  • complex application sites with high traffic and secure information such as ecommerce, database, and multimedia sites.

  • enterprise-level web sites

  • Web sites which may have content restrictions if hosted elsewhere (e.g. adult targeted sites.)

    How to decide

Overall, the cost, security of data and equipment, bandwidth availability, the knowledge and integrity of the web-hosting provider, uptime, hardware maintenance, and any technical support offered by the dedicated web host are important deciding factors. Although your specific dedicated server hosting needs may be unique in a few ways, generally, one can make a decision on a dedicated web server provider by considering the following things:

    Data Transfer Rates

Data transfer will need to be determined based on the amount of information that will be downloaded, as well as the type of content a site will be sharing (general text vs. high resolution graphics and multimedia). A dedicated server host will generally have various packages that will allow one to choose the data transfer level, normally measured in "gigabytes per month". Higher levels of data transfer rates normally mean more cost, so utilization of the first few months to correlate data transfer rates and traffic patterns is key.

    Platforms

The two most common systems available are Windows based servers versus some flavor of UNIX (Linux and Solaris). Windows is historically more expensive, but is generally regarded as more user-friendly, especially with the ubiquitous presence of Windows-based pc's and administrators. Linux, on the other hand, is less expensive to install, but harder to maintain, as a steeper learning curve exists for those unfamiliar with it. Therefore, the operating system installed on a dedicated web server should depend on a couple of factors.

First, the platform should be conducive to the coding in which the website and necessary applications are developed. Next, since administration of the dedicated server will be done by the subscriber, the necessary skill base to support the platform must be in place. Commands and administration techniques are definitely platform-specific.

    Monitoring

Dedicated server monitoring works to prevent service interruptions. The web host will provide a service that can, at a pre-set frequency, check a website to see downtime.

    Automation

Although dedicated web servers may require a greater degree of skill, certain dedicated server hosting companies may offer software that will automate common procedures, thus lessening the high level knowledge necessary to maintain servers and implement new services.

    Data Backup

Some dedicated server providers assist the web hosting subscriber with data backups. Finding a dedicated server provider who will assist in this process could alleviate the hassle of doing it yourself and can allow one to devote time to other things.

    Scalability

Dedicated server hosting providers should be able to account for major growth. Progressive expansion can be accounted for by asking a web host if modules of extra space, bandwidth, or better yet, larger packages can be purchased to allow easy transition to better hardware and software.

    Service Level Agreements

More dedicated server hosts are publishing their SLA's, which thoroughly documents what they will do in exchange for what the customer is responsible for. For instance, some dedicated server hosts are offering features such as: 100% uptime guarantees, unlimited live answer technical phone-based support, free upgrades of patches, hot-fixes, personal Dedicated Sales account managers, maintenance staff with spare parts for all server configurationsFeature Articles, and more. A full understanding of the commitment that a dedicated server host is offering will help in a decision to utilize that service.

    Types of dedicated server platforms?

There are several types of platforms available with server providers to fit for your website, application development need.

    1. Coldfusion Dedicated Server for coldfusion application development.

Glassfish Enterprise Server What Is Diameter Protocol?

Way back years ago, most Internet users rely on the use of dialup connections in order to access the Internet. Some parts of the globe are still using this form of connection even with the existence of a faster and more reliable connection, the broadband connection. Do you know how your ISP provides you your Internet connection? Well, your ISP uses the standard Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) before allowing you to connect to the network by using their services.

So what is AAA and how does it affects you as a network user? AAA is simply a process inside an application that filters information before granting any access. It is where applications are based in order to provide a secure and reliable output. This is where diameter protocol and RADUIS gateway takes place. There are plenty of AAA applications that we are using right now. This includes the one used when connecting for a wireless network and on some mobile phone features.

Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADUIS) was an older protocol used in implementing AAA standards. The protocol was also named as radius gateway for a clearer and easy to remember term. Despite its popularity and availability, radius gateway had some complications and limitations that need to be addressed. Applications relying on radius gateway were immensely limited to performing a more secured and reliable process. Thus, it gave birth to a new form of protocol widely used in modern applications.

Diameter protocol came as a result of developments to eliminate limitations with the radius gateway. It serves similar purpose in AAA applications however, advanced processes and operations were added to the protocol to make it reliable. This included the addition of attribute value pairs (AVPs) and error notification which was not present on older protocols such as TACACS and RADIUS.

As a result, older applications designed to run on older protocols including those that were designed in conformity to radius gateway had to adapt the changes brought by the newer diameter protocol. In addition, diameter was designed to support backwards compatibility so migrating applications from radius gateway were easy. Necessary steps were done on most application to have it run with diameter protocol, without changing the entire structure of these applications.

The design of the diameter protocol was initiated by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) to be used for their IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). By using the diameter protocol, applications are able to support interfaces such as Cx, CCA, Dx, Rf, Ro, and Sh, but it should be incompliance with the 3GPP or 3GPP2 standards.

Among the big companies relying on diameter protocol stack is Sun Microsystems. Their applications GlassFish and SailFin are using diameter protocol as the standard. The SailFin project is a joint venture with Traffix System, a leader in developing diameter based applications. The SailFin project will be embedded with Traffix’s OpenBloX(TM) Diameter which is also used by more than a hundred vendors. In addition to the project, OpenBloX was designed for Java which made it the best alternative.

Dedicated Email Server Why Dedicated Servers?

    Why Dedicated Servers?

A dedicated server includes an operating system (mostly some variants of Linux or Windows) a Web server, related software (such as a MYSQL server, Control Panel and much more) and connection to the Internet, housed in the Web hosting company's premises. It is typically required for a Web site or a group of related company sites that may develop a substantial amount of traffic. The server can usually be configured and operated remotely from the client company and you can customize the server to your own needs. It can be assigned to function only as a resource server and cannot be used as a client. The server is owned by the web host and you don't have physical access to the server.

A dedicated web hosting is beneficial while developing a complex business or a high-end e-commerce site as you will need more space and security - a web server dedicated to your business. It is purchased by a company when they want more control of their server. They purchase or rent the hardware from the hosting company who then normally support and manage it. Internet connectivity is provided to the server, in many cases over 10 or 100 Mbit/s Ethernet. Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers, similar to co-location facilities, providing redundant power sources and HVAC systems. You do not need a large initial investment to set it up.

Commonly, unmanaged hosting plans include hardware, operating system, web server and Internet connection. Managed plans however include the basics and pretty much everything else that the only thing you need to worry about is your web site and content.

A dedicated server could also be a computer that manages printer resources. However, it is important to note that not all servers are dedicated. In some networks, it is possible for a computer to act as a server and perform other functions as well.

If you are looking for cheaper dedicated servers, you should be careful while choosing the right specification and package. Things to consider are operating system, data backup and monitoring service, hardware options, space, bandwidth and technical support. Ask the hosting providers to give you a few websites for references, read hosting reviews before you sign up and be sure that the price is affordable. We know that the dedicated servers on this site are the one that will give you the most reliability and flexibility for your money.

Rms Server Corporate ERP For Mid-Size Organization: Microsoft Dynamics GP Notes

This Corporate ERP application belongs to Microsoft Dynamics family: GP (former Great Plains Dynamics), AX (former Axapta), NAV (Navision), CRM, RMS, SL (Solomon).  Each application has featured modules and special recommendations for industries and niches.  In this small publication we would like to share with you our Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains implementation experience and implementation nuances for various business types.  We do not pretend to be top experts in all the industries, and you may find that your case not listed here, or you expect it be implemented different for your company.  Again, Dynamics GP, as we see it is powerful and flexible Corporate ERP platform, ready for moderate or heavy customization, modification, integration, custom reporting and open for moderate or really complex data migration and conversion:

    1. Functionality.  We will not be talking here about apparent and traditional functionality, such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, as we assume that all Corporate ERP applications handle these areas (Oracle eBusiness Suite, SAP Business One, PeopleSoft, Epicor, Accpac, mySAP, etc.).  Let's begin with Manufacturing Suite - if you have midsize or larger Discrete Manufacturing facility - this might be good or even perfect fit (if you have so-called Process Manufacturing, such as in food and meat processing industries, please be sure that you reviewed Dynamics AX Axapta).  Project Organization should review GP Project Accounting module with precise budgeting and profit and loss tracking for each project or project class (as alternative, please review also Dynamics SL Solomon, as you may find good alternative logic for your type of Project Organization).  Supply Chain Management: here you have set of Dynamics GP modules, covering this functionality: Inventory Control (with multiple sites, serial and lot number tracking, bins management, inventory cycle count, etc.), Sales Order Processing module (with reasonable negotiation and order execution logic, items allocation and return management, drop ships), Purchase Order Processing (with Purchase Order configurator for automated stock replenishment logic), Grant Management and Analytical Accounting (this is often required for non for profit organization).  Microsoft Dynamics GP Business Portal also covers such features as Electronic Document Delivery (to send Invoices and other documents to your customers and other business partners automatically), Order Management (B2B ecommerce with catalog management and pricing directly from GP Inventory Control module), Requisition Management (with Requisition approval hierarchy and integration to GP Purchase Order Processing module), Human Resources with Employee self management (to eliminate the need for check stubs mailing as one of the advantages).  We are following article genre restrictions, and if you have additional questions, please contact us directly

    2. Integration.  Dynamics GP is open for integration with text files or ODBC compliant data sources via user friendly tool (which also had advanced features and scripting options for software programmers) Great Plains Integration Manager module.  IM should not be considered as very basic tool, we have customers, who integrates close to real time ecommerce transactions with IM scheduled integrations (every twenty minutes).  IM could reasonable efficiently cover integration with Heterogeneous SQL queries, where you import to GP something like Oracle, MySQL/PHP/Linux based transactions via Advanced ODBC data sources in IM.  If you require real time GP integration, we recommend you to review eConnect SDK programming options.  If you would like to do automatic ecommerce batches posting in Dynamics GP, we offer Alba Spectrum Posting Server add-on (coded in Great Plains Dexterity source level scripts).  If you are thinking about EDI (Electronic Document Interchange) integration scenarios, we are happy to help you with formatted SQL Select statement and stored procedures to avoid expensive Dynamics GP EDI add-ons purchasing and deployment

    3. Customization and Modification.  If you need just to modify some GP screens, please review Modifier module (with VBA scripting).  For deep customization, which is naturally integrated into GP user interface and user security realm, consider Dynamics GP Dexterity.  Initially Dexterity was intended as Great Plains Software Dynamics Architecture.  It was created as the shell, programmed in C++ programming language.  If you have reasonably strong IT department in large organization, we recommend you to try VBA customization (events scripting) for Modified Windows (in GP Modifier).  For Dexterity programming in our opinion learning curve is too long and we do not recommend over night or over weekend, or even over one month turn around for generic C#, VB or C++ programmer to become Dexterity developer

    4. Reporting.  Here you have several tools plus numerous generic reporting options.  FRx Financial Reporting is dedicated to Financial Statements: Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Statement of Cash Flow, including consolidated versions.  FRx also covers consolidation with overseas subsidiaries, if you are exporting them into Excel worksheets from SAP Business One or local favorite Accounting packages, such as Microsiga in Brazil or 1C Accounting in Russia.  In some case you may be OK with Advanced Financial Reporting, but in our opinion FRx is better option (Advanced Financials comes with Small Business Financials and Dynamics GP as Dexterity coded module, you do not need to purchase additional software licenses for AF).  Great Plains Report Writer allows you to modify such important forms as SOP Blank Invoice (where you likely need to place your company graphical logo).  Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (or SSRS) offers you flexible alternative and free platform for advanced complex reporting, especially Managerial reporting: Sales Commission (with advanced and complex sales commission calculation formula to give you a good example).  For non Microsoft Reporting Platforms we would like to mention Crystal Reports, as this tool (in our opinion similar in its functionality and power to SSRS) has numerous CR developers available on the job market for contracting and sub contracting

    5. Data Conversion and Migration.  As we can suggest it from our experience, Dynamics GP data conversions are often end up as show stoppers for GP implementations.  When you are switching to new Corporate ERP application, you should be moderate in your expectations, and try to avoid typical pitfalls.  Great Plains is not an exception, we recommend you to be OK with just master records migration and transfer beginning balances to your GL accounts.  However, and again in our personal opinion, Great Plains Integration Manager allows you to experiment with current year GL data migration or even with attempts to bring several years of modules (SOP, POP, Payroll, AR, AP, etc.) batches and their posting.   Data Conversion and Massage in our opinion are very sensitive to integration mapping (how accurate you are in exporting accounts from your legacy ERP, such as QuickBooks, Peach Tree, MYOB and mapping them one-to-one to new Corporate ERP accounts in Great Plains Dynamics)

    6. Great Plains Upgrade.  Microsoft Dynamics GP upgrade should be given to the hands of professional Dynamics GP Consultant.  There are numerous known issues, knowledge base articles, training seminars, technical broadcasts and demos for Great Plains Professionals - we encourage you to try to follow, especially when you are small organization, but if you deploy custom GP logic and your organization is not tolerant to Corporate ERP blackouts, we recommend GP version update to be given to the hands of experienced Dynamics GP Partner

    7. Dynamics GP as Corporate ERP for Multinational Corporation.  Please review such topics as Accounting application international localization.  Typically localization includes two things: local language translation and compliance to local country tax and government reporting compliance.  If your subsidiary is located in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Kosovo, Albania, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Burma, we recommend you SAP Business One or local leaders in Corporate ERP applications (such as Microsiga in Brazil or 1S Bukhalteria in Russian Federation)

    8. Please review our Great Plains Guru level articles on Albaspectrum or Pegasplanet websites.   We are full service Dynamics GP Partner, ISV, Reseller and VAR

    9. If you are University Student and study Accounting, ERP and MRPII courses.  Please, check with your University IT department, typically universities have Educational MSDN subscription and you can have IT folks to download Dynamics GP CD for you

    10. How to get help?  Please, feel free to call us: 1-866-528-0577, outside of USA: 1-630-961-5918 or email us help@albaspectrum.com  We are very technical and real Dynamics GP Dexterity, SAP Business One SDK programming gurus.  We have Great Plains Software Development Factory and could support unlimited Dynamics GP Customization and Programming needs.  Plus we speak English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and not only as native speaking sales folks, but as real technical consultants.  If you prefer skype: albaspectrum

Application Server Software Changing It Infrastructure Demands Superior Testing Tools

Rich Internet Applications technology has ushered in a new age of superior Web applications. RIA is a web application that is similar to traditional web applications in features and functionality, but delivers a superior user experience than its traditional counterparts.

RIA excel in user–friendliness, accessibility, process transfer to web clients, reusability of client/ server applications in association with the operation, and maintenance of huge data on application server. RIA can be developed employing various technologies, including Flash, AJAX, Adobe Flex, Curl, Microsoft Silverlight, and others.

RIA technology bestows numerous benefits, including a rich user interface, increased responsiveness, client server balance, reduced web server workload, and availability of resources, which are allocated to other client sessions in parallel.

Businesses, having realized the advantages of RIA technology as well as the powerful technological capabilities that can be acquired by combining Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) with RIA, prefer these modern applications.

Organizational IT infrastructure is constantly changing to respond to evolving business challenges and technological innovations. More and more organizations are turning to RIA technology and SOA. This has created a need for advanced testing methodologies. Organizations need Testing tools and methodologies that enable rapid testing of Ajax, Service Oriented Architecture, REST, and web applications, simultaneously fulfilling time and budget constrictions.

PushToTest's TestMaker is an ideal testing tool for today's IT environment. TestMaker is a complete test automation platform that enables execution of functional testing, load testing, and monitoring of business services with a single script.

TestMaker can be used to test all modern applications. With TestMaker's unique correlation technology, it becomes easy to identify root causes for system under-performance faster. TestMaker can be operated from client's own equipment or from PushToTest's cloud computing environment, which again saves expenses.

As TestMaker allows different types of testing on a single platform with a single script, it results in enormous cost savings for the organization. TestMaker is also time-saving, accelerating application time-to-delivery.

Deployment Server Usefull Issues About Database Tools

The sql server primary query language is Transact-SQL, an implementation of the ANSI/ISO standard Structured Query Language (SQL) used by both Sql server express and Sybase. SQL Server is commonly used by businesses for small- to medium-sized databases, but the past five years have seen greater adoption of the product for larger enterprise databases.

SQL Server Express is a product that has been released in Beta as a follow up to the MSDE product. Many new features as well as complementary products for all of the .NET development tools are now available. Read on for a quick summary of what this new product line is all about. Sql server express is moving forward with the next evolution of SQL Server, AKA Yukon, AKA SQL Server 2005. The product is being developed and coincides with the Visual Studio 2005. However the next Beta, Beta 2, which TechEd 2004 attendees were allowed to sign up for, will not be a large public release. Instead it should be here any day for a larger audience than Beta 1, but still a limited group, only about 100,000 users.

Beta 3 is expected to be available for the general public. Therefore, the product is not quite ready for prime time. I'd look for the dates to slip for the general release. It was expected for Q1 2005, now I'm thinking TechEd 2005, the June timeframe.

All of us that plan on sticking with SQL Server as one of our primary skills, be it DBA, developer, whatever, if you use SQL Server technically, you will want to learn something about .NET and the CLR Using .NET easily enables me to link a VB.NET function to a C#.Net library and data types, etc. match up and work seamlessly. Don't think that the developers you work with won't want to give this a try, especially if they each like different languages to code in.

SQL Server Express is the product taking the place of MSDE. It is installed with Visual Studio and also available as a separate download. It appears from the description that many of the complaints and issues with MSDE have been considered with this product. For example, this product supports: Single CPU systems, but can be installed on multi-cpu systems, 1GB RAM, 4GB databases, stored procedures, views, triggers, cursors, the same core SQL Server engine, many of the new database features like snapshot isolation, extended indexes, distributed transactions, it can act as subscription client for replication, full .NET and CLR integration, native XML data type and XQuery support, and it can easily migrate databases to the full edition once it is available Keep in mind that a few things are not included, DTS, Notification Services, Analysis Services. This is a learning system, not a development or production product.

The workload governor has also been removed, but with the limit of a single CPU and 1GB of RAM for the product, there is a limit to how well it will perform. Another omission is SQLAgent, so any scheduling you need to do will require the Windows scheduler as well as the new SQLCMD command line utility. This replaces MSDE, or will eventually, so it has the same multi-instance capabilities. At this time, Sql server express has said the instance limit is fifty.
